Service Provider Offers Free Upgrades to Exchange 2010

Published 10/09 by Exchange Answers

Seattle, WA - Azaleos, a provider of Microsoft Exchange managed services, this week offered its existing customers free migration to Exchange 2010, which is scheduled for general availability beginning in November.

The company also debuted a new monitoring service for F5's BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager appliances, which it said is needed more than before because of the way in which E2010 has been redesigned with more services going through a central hub - which therefore becomes a potential single point of failure.

The free upgrade to E2010 is for Exchange users - both existing Azaleos customers and others - with up to 500 mailboxes and includes the installation and configuration of the E2010 infrastructure, plus the mailbox migration. In its announcement, Azaleos said the new version of Exchange improves storage, performance, and web client ease-of-use.

According to Azaleos' announcement, the new monitoring service is made necessary because the Exchange Client Access Service (CAS) was redesigned to be the central hub of E2010. It handles connectivity,"for all major endpoint technologies in Exchange including Outlook, Outlook Web Access, ActiveSync, and more," the company said. As a result, "CAS creates a potential single point of failure that can bring down all E2010 services."

In response, Azaleos built a 24/7/365 monitoring service for F5 LTM appliances, which the company says play a critical role in managing the flow of traffic and services among multiple front-end servers in Exchange deployments. The service continually monitors metrics including capacity utilization, availability and network performance, ensuring that the system is operating and properly configured at all times, according to Azaleos.

Azaleos' pricing for full monitoring and management of Exchange environments starts at $12 per user per month. The F5 LTM monitoring service is available immediately for Exchange 2007 environments.
